Sierra Club Florida

Litigation in Florida

The current process for litigation is similar to the process of prior years. Details have been sent to Group ExComs. If you don't know who in your group has the material, you can email the steering committee and they will put you in touch with the right person. (FL-Steering-Contact@lists.sierraclub.org)

Things to Remember:

The Sierra Club is a single legal entity. All litigation is brought on behalf of the Sierra Club as a whole. Before you decide on litigation, which is a serious and expensive step, make sure you have made all efforts to gain your environmental goal. Be sure that you understand all the facts and be realistic about your legal objectives. Consult with an attorney about your legal standing and be sure to include this information in the new matter form. Please plan to give time for authorization from each of these committees: Group Excom approval - Formal approval to proceed recorded in minutes; Florida Litigation Advisory Committee (Warren Anderson, Peter Belmont, George Cavros); Sierra Club-FL Steering Committee; National Sierra Club Environmental Law Program.
